Site and Template Update: Additional Terms & Declarations

13 March 2026

We announce a new site and template update.

Regarding our site, the major change is the addition of an "Ethics, Terms & Policies" page which aims to gather all information related to publication ethics, terms and policies in one place either in plain text or through links. We have also included explicit policies regarding AI use and the declaration of generative AI use. Other minor changes include adding a link to our "Online First" content in our "All Issues" page, rearranging the buttons in the right column of our site (under our cover), slightly modifying our home page and our About page, adding a statement in our "Indexing" page regarding indexing-related services etc.

Our new template now includes a separate section regarding DECLARATIONS with information about: Declaration of competing interests, Acknowledgment, Data availability and Declaration of generative AI use. We expect all new submissions to use this template after March 15, 2026. Regarding published material, the changes will be effective from our June 2026 issue and on. Articles that have been submitted before that date and are scheduled to be published in our June 2026 issue (or in later issues) will be updated with the collaboration of our copyediting team during the copyediting/proofreading stage.

Scam attempt: "etΕsr dot com" fake site and emails

23 November 2025

We recently spotted another scam attempt to hijack our journal (after the previous "etasr dot org" scam attempt reported in 2020, see here for more information on that case). This time, it is a site called "etEsr dot com" that is trying to scam authors and readers. Note to all that the "etEsr dot com" site is a phishing/scam attempt. As obvious, our initials are ETASR (Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research) and not etEsr and we have no connection to that site. ETASR actual (and only) site is (and always was) www.etasr.com and our editor's email is (and always was) editor@etasr.com. This should be obvious to all persons familiar to our journal but we also post this announcement here in order to protect people that are not that familiar with our journal until the scam site is taken down.

ETASR Journal Home Page in ResearchGate

We are happy to announce that "Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research" has now its own dedicated ResearchGate Journal Home Page which you can access here.

ResearchGate is a social networking site for scientists and researchers launched in 2008 that currently includes more than 20 million researchers from diverse sectors in over 190 countries that use ResearchGate to connect, collaborate, and share their work.

Through our agreement with ResearchGate, all our published articles will be automatically linked to their authors' profiles in ResearchGate and to our Home Page. Further, several additional metrics and statistics will be available to all readers at our ResearchGate Journal's Home Page.

This way, researchers will be given the opportunity to seamlessly follow our journal, discover and share articles of interest and follow and contact fellow researchers.

Through this process, the visibility of our journal and of our published articles and authors is also expected to increase.

Fee policy update

Following the request of several of our clients, we have updated our fee policy so that we no longer have dual prices depending on the payment method. We have also added a table in our Publication Fee page with our calculated Article Publication Charges (APCs) for articles with various number of pages (from 6 to 15) for further simplification.

New Payment Option now avalaibe (Credit Card, Google Pay, Apple Pay)

This is to notify all users that our publisher (PUBETA) is now able to accept credit card payments for publication fees for articles accepted in "Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research" through Nexi Payments Greece S.A. / Nexi Xpay.

Current procedure is that a unique link can be created by us for each submission and this link resolves to a page inside https://xpay.nexigroup.com/ that states the basic information regarding your order i.e. the submission ID and the the amount to be paid to pbl/pubeta. Note that you can also select Google Pay or Apple Pay options from that page.

We will gradually incorporate the new option in our acceptance messages/payment instructions.

Meanwhile, if you have a pending payment for an already accepted article and you would prefer to use this payment option, notify the editor with a discussion in the Payment tab of your submission and we will provide the unique link for your payment.

Note that as a part of this change, the unique Wise links we used to provide will gradually be replaced by a steady link which would be the same for all Wise payments (the customer will now have to declare the amount and submission ID during Wise link payments).

New Template Uploaded

A new template has been uploaded at our site. Although nothing has changed in our format and styles all users are adviced to use the new version as it may help them preparing their manuscript. We have incorporated recent experience from the handling and peer review process to include some new sections (and figures) in our template that should help clarify issues like the readability of figures, citing and using datasets and basic comparative analysis rules.

Exaly: 2023 Impact Factor of ETASR (1.960)

exaly is a non-profit project to address the absence of an open and comprehensive resource of scholarly literature and scientometric data. exaly provides almost all services by Google Scholar, Web of Science, Publons, Scopus, Crossref, and ResearchGate combined. However whereas almost all databases have their own agenda and/or parent company, exaly claims to be unbiased and independent, as there is no corporate or commercial interest to affect the indexing strategies/policies and no human contribution/alteration. Instead e.g. of fixing errors in a case-by-case basis, they alter the whole algorithm to reduce the probability of that error. According to ETASR page in exaly, the 2023 impact factor of Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research is 1.960. This impact factor has been calculated by dividing the number of citations in the year 2023 to the articles published in 2021 and 2022. Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research published 219 and 287 articles in the years 2021 and 2022, which have received 425 and 567 citations in 2023, respectively. Changes in our Reviewer Reward policy

In the past few months we have received questions from some of our members regarding our Scopus coverage as Scopus used the term "Scopus coverage years: from 2019 to 2023" in the Scopus page of some journals (including ours) and the term "Scopus coverage years: from 2019 to Present" for other journals.

We are happy to announce that, for ETASR, this has been changed and the Scopus Page for our journal now states "Scopus coverage years:from 2019 to Present".

Further, as you may know, Scopus offers a monthly calculation of citation impact through the CiteScore Tracker. As announced on 05 March, 2024 our current CiteScore is 2.9.

As explained in our previous announcement, Scopus offers a monthly calculation of citation impact through the CiteScore Tracker. Our first CiteScore Tracker was announced in November 2023 and had a value of 2.7. Next month (December 2023) its value reached 2.8 and it remains so for January 2024. According to Scopus, CiteScore 2024 counts the citations received in 2021-2024 to articles, reviews, conference papers, book chapters and data papers published in 2021-2024, and divides this by the number of publications published in 2021-2024. Scopus CiteScore Tracker for ETASR

26 November 2023

ETASR has been accepted for indexing in Scopus since November 2022, as previously announced. However, our journal was not immediately visible in the Scopus site (although included in their Sources excel file). This was due to the fact that Scopus updates its browser (site) sporadically (usually twice a year) and even under this scheme, delays may be expected (as in our case). Related services (ranking, metrics etc) such as CiteScore are calculated annually and it seems that due to these delays ETASR was not included in the 2023 annual calculation. Thus, if one searches for our journal in Scopus today (Nov 2023), the returned results show a N/A value for ranking and other metrics (should be updated upon the next annual calculation, expected in spring of 2024). However, Scopus offers a monthly calculation of citation impact through the CiteScore Tracker. As stated in Scopus site, CiteScore Tracker 2023 counts the citations received in 2020-2023 to articles, reviews, conference papers, book chapters and data papers published in 2020-2023, and divides this by the number of publications published in 2020-2023. CiteScoreTracker 2023 will continue to update on a monthly basis until the next annual CiteScore calculation. The CiteScore Tracker value announced for ETASR for November 2023 is 2.7. Web of Science Author Connect Campaign (Announcing Clarivate Journal Impact Factor and JCI Quartile Ranking)

Clarivate JCI Quartile Ranking (Q ranking) for ETASR: Q2

Clarivate has informed us that the our current quartile ranking for "Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research" based on the Clarivate Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) is Q2.

JCI is an alternative to JIF metric introduced by Clarivate in 2019 designed to represent the relative citation impact of a journal compared to a global baseline normalized per scientific field. Note that journals that have received a Clarivate Journal Impact Factor (JIF) for the first time in June 2023 (like ETASR did), do not receive ranks, quartiles, or percentiles based on JIF until the release of 2023 data in June 2024. However, since ETASR has been awarded a JCI since 2019, Clarivate provides the rank and percentile (quartile) based on JCI.

As you may have noticed, starting from our Vol. 13, No. 3 issue, we now include the license/copyright information and the DOI of each paper in the published PDF files. This update has also been incorporated in our template. This way the published PDF will carry at all times these additional vital information, which should be rather helpful to readers that view the published PDF following a direct link and/or download and keep local copies of published manuscripts.

Redeem your ReviewerCredits by the 31st of December 2023 (or they expire)

As you know, ETASR is collaborating with ReviewerCredits to offer tangible rewards for reviewers (most notably a 10% waiver on our standard fee...for more info check our Reviewer Rewards page). This is done through the ReviewerCredits site that used to have a shop (now called the Old Reward Center) where reviewers can use the credits they have accumulated by doing reviews to purchase tangible rewards. However, ReviewerCredits have announced that they are preparing to launch a new Reward Center with a different scheme (not fully disclosed at this point) and as they state at their site: "We encourage you to redeem your ReviewerCredits gained before the launch of the new reward system by the 31st of December 2023. After that, all ReviewerCredits gained before the 1st of July 2023 will be expired and the services listed will be unavailable."

So, if you have registered any reviews with ReviewerCredits, you should make sure that you use your credits to purchase your reward(s) before 2023 expires.

June 2023 will be an important month for our journal as, considering past experience, we expect that in June 2023 Clarivate will issue the 2023 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Scopus will update its site in order to include all titles accepted after last year's update (and thus have ETASR finally appear on the site and not just on the Scopus Source List).

*As you know, ETASR will receive its first Impact Factor in 2023 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and has been accepted in Scopus (since November 2022).

ETASR indexed in Scopus

ETASR was submitted for evaluation to Scopus in December 2021. We received feedback from them in February 2022 and their answer was that even though ETASR "fulfills the criteria for inclusion in Scopus", they object to us not showing the dates of submission, revision and acceptance for each paper and thus they want us to add these "to support the peer review procedure" and then resubmit for evaluation in "six month’s time.". So we implemented what was requested from us, and we resubmitted our journal for evaluation in September 2022.

Finally, ETASR has been accepted for indexing in Scopus on November 13, 2022. According to their acceptance email: "all recently accepted titles are listed separately in the Scopus Title list within 1 month after acceptance, see the second tab 'Accepted titles'. If you can't find your title there, please check the tab 'Scopus sources'. "

ETASR NEW TEMPLATE

We will be bringing forward a new template (effective after 2023).
We have tried to incorporate several minor fixes in this new template based on community feedback and our own experience.

Most notably:
- The author section is single column with authors appearing one under the other.
- The first name of authors is no longer abbreviated.
- The title, subtitle, authors and affiliation fields are left-aligned
- The affiliations fiels is now the same font size with the authors field but the authors field uses bold fonts.
- A statement regarding the use of diacritics in title, abstract and author fields has been added.
- Equations are now fully justified.
- Section titles and table headers styles now use "All caps" (instead of small caps).
- We have added a new style for computer code segments that uses a fixed width font.

Clarivate Web of Science now releases a field-normalized measurement of journal citation, the Journal Citation Indicator (JCI). This new metric represents the relative citation impact of a journal compared to a global baseline which is normalized per scientific field. The relative citation impact of each published paper is calculated compared to a global baseline for papers in that subject/field. The mean value for all papers published over the last three years provides the Journal Citation Indicator.

Our journal's JCI for 2021 is: 0.37
(past values was 0.24 for 2019 and 0.33 for 2020).

New Template Uploaded

We have uploaded a new template that includes the dates related to the handling of each manuscript (i.e. received, revised, accepted).

If the link to our template appears to be dead or it is leading to a "forbidden" or "blank" page then please do a browser refresh or a browser hard refresh while navigating through our site or erase all the cache/cookies/history in your browsers related to our site.

Doing a hard refresh or clearing your cache/cookies/history is a very simple task and a simple web search should inform you on how to do it (if you do not already know).

In general most browsers use "control+F5" to hard refresh.
In some cases, the "shift" key may be used instead of the "control" key, and the "R" key instead of the "F5" key.
A combination of "shift+control+R" may also be used.

Please note that:
- different browsers may use different shortcut keys for refresh and hard refresh.
- the same browser may use different shortcut keys on different systems (e.g. Windows or Mac).
- shortcut keys are user defined in several browsers.

Dimensions badge added in the abstract page of published papers

Dimensions covers millions of research publications connected by more than 1.5 billion citations, supporting grants, datasets, clinical trials, patents and policy documents. The total number of citations found in the Dimensions database for each of our published papers now appears inside a Dimenions badge, in the abstract page of each published papers. By clicking the badge the user can acquire more information regarding the citations and a detailed list of them.

Crossref Citations Statistics added

We have added a new page at our site to provide a view of the citations to our journal over the years, as recorded in the Crossref database. The mean ratio of the number of citations to the number of published papers for 2011-2021 is currently 2.26 (i.e. 2.26 citations for each published paper). We intend to periodically update the information.

Site issues

As many of you may have noticed, we have been experiencing some issues with our site these last couple of days. The problem originated from our host due to a server hardware failure. The server has been replaced but we are still experiencing several hick-ups until everything is properly set-up and configurated. Software Upgrade (OJS 3.3.0.7)

ETASR has now upgraded its software to OJS 3.3.0.7. This will allow us to strengthen our security, fix some minor bugs and be up to date with the community. The new software also seems to be a little lighter/faster (which is always an added bonus, especially for people from countries with lower internet speeds).

"Cited-by" added

A "Cited-by" function has now been added at our site. A new block has been added in each article's abstract page (under the copyright statement and next to the reference list). Inside this block, you may see a list of papers from within Crossref that cite this particular article. For more information on this service you can visit the related Crossref page. In short, only papers that are registered in Crossref (have a DOI) are listed in this block and only if the publishers wish to join and enable this service. However, it is both a service and an obligation. This means that not only do the cited-by lists appear in our site, but our articles are now also included in the cited-by lists of other journals that provide this service. I would like to notify you that ETASR joined Crossref in November 2020. Though this membership we now have assigned DOIs to all our published articles. The DOI of each article is now stated in the article's abstract page but also in the search results of our site, in every issue's table of contents etc. Further, we have also fully incorporated Reference Linking for all the papers published in our journal. Following this scheme, the reference list of each published article has been checked through Crossref and DOIs have now been added at the end of each reference (when the reference has a DOI, obviously) . ETASR has now joined Crossref. Through our membership we are now able to assign DOIs to all our published articles. DOIs are autogenerated by our system and we have chosen the simplest possible form for them. Our assigned prefix is 10.48084 and our chosen suffix is consisted of our initials (etasr) followed by a dot and the article ID number. Each article's DOI is autogenerated the very first time its abstract page is viewed by someone. All generated DOIs are automatically registered in Crossref in regular intervals (1-2 days max). This means that it is possible that you may find a non-resolving DOI if you happen to be the very first person that views this paper after our Crossref registration and you decide to check this DOI immediately after viewing. This is part of normal procedure and it shouldn't worry you. Just wait a few hours and the DOI will be automatically registered.

ETASR incorporates the PROJECT COUNTER process to count views, so that multi-clicks and bot views are filtered by default. Individual view counts are now available at each paper's abstract page. These views are counted however only since November 2017. For papers published previously, you may also consider the unfiltered click-views as posted in our Metrics Information page. Please also note that this journal applies a free sharing policy (CC-BY) that allows articles to be shared and uploaded to other sites (e.g. institutional sites, researchgate, zenodo, academia etc) . Thus, the view counts mentioned in article abstract pages are the ones counted through this site only and thus can not be considered fully representative.

Software Upgrade

UIF maintains academic database services to researchers, journal editors and publishers. The aim of Sciencegate is to make scientific literature from the open access segment available free of charge on the internet. n order to achieve this goal, scientific data from over 1,400 universities and open access journals are collected, categorised and refined in the Sciencegate internal database, which currently contains over 26 million data records relating to scientific articles. ETASR -Reported mail problems

It was reported by several members that ETASR mails were not delivered to them at all or that they were sent to their spam folders.
It has also been reported that some spam filtering lists have added the IP that ETASR uses to their list (implying that ETASR should pay some sister-company to get the IP clear)
So, we have to ask all authors, reviewers and readers to check the settings in their email and also ask their network/mail administrator to check the matter

Index Copernicus (IC) is an online database including scientist profiles, institutions, publications and projects established in 1999 in Poland. The database has several productivity assessment tools which allow tracking the impact of scientific works and publications, individual scientists, or research institutions. In addition to the productivity aspects, the Index Copernicus also offers the traditional abstracting and indexing of scientific publications.
